The highlight of recent events is related to the shelter at which I’ve been teaching English with some teammates.  The shelter is full of young men who have fled their home country for various reasons, and have no other choice than to live at this place where the vast majority feel like there’s no life or future.  As my teammate and I spend time with them, many express their feeling of hopelessness with their current situation.  At the same time, many are very evidently seeking hope elsewhere, and God has been drawing them to himself as the direction of that hope.  Though… Read more >>

Joy Through Suffering

"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Grace for Syria

The Syrian war has caused so much death and destruction. I can imagine Jesus weeping over all of the suffering, and especially over the most recent events. BBC claims that the number of child refugees from Syria has surpassed 1 million, and the Syrian refugee crisis is considered to be the worst in the world for 20 years since the Rwandan genocide. Kurds in Syria have been particularly affected recently by battles between their militias and some Al-Qaeda linked groups who are creating quite a bit of death and destruction, causing even more Kurds to have to flee their homes.
