By David Gee on

My early twenties were pretty cool, and I’ve met a lot of other people that did cool things after college. This list is a compilation of mine and their experiences in the hopes that you too will go out on a limb and try some of these cool things to do after college.

Why Go Overseas if There Are So Many Lost People Here?

By David Gee on

Why should we go overseas in an age when America is increasingly drifting from Christianity, and globalization is putting us ever more into contact with people from other countries? Well, the answer is a bit multi-faceted and involves everything from checking your heart to taking a good long look at your 20s and how God wants to use them.

Here are three things to consider when facing the question of, “Why should I go overseas when there are lost people here?”

THE GOSPEL AND THE MOUNTAIN MUSHROOM FARMER AND HIS WIFE

By Anna on

How Goers are bringing the Gospel to one of the remotest places on the planet

How do Buddhists who live in the remotest regions of the Himalayas who have never heard the name of Jesus come to know Christ’s love? In the case of Tarn and Soriah, an alpine mushroom farmer and his wife, God used their hospitality to a Goer named Anna...

After graduating from Belhaven University in 2018, Anna decided to move from her home in the heart of the bible belt to join four other recent grads to help run a trekking tour company started by an American missionary.

Bekka: Teaching in East Asia

By Bekka on

Before moving overseas with GoCorps, Bekka hated tea, couldn't handle spicy food, and had never heard of Durian (which, apparently, was the King of Fruit). That all changed within minutes of landing in Southeast Asia. Bekka tithed her career and worked at an English Language Center mentoring young adults in a cramped, wonderful, city in Southeast Asia. She had just graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a degree in Elementary Education, and had always wanted to live overseas. Her city was an ideal place to serve. While her city had a population of over 1 million, you only needed to drive a couple kilometers outside the city limits to encounter rural palm oil and rubber tree farms. It was a beautiful mix of familiar and strange, and it changed her life and career in incredible ways.

The Most Important Thing to Consider When Serving Globally

By Bri on

There are a lot of things to consider when deciding about living and serving overseas. If you’re anything like me, I imagine a multitude of questions appear in your mind. Is this going to be best for me in the long run? Will this help me move towards what I strive to accomplish and become? Am I doing what the Lord wants for me? Am I going to like where I am going? This is just a little glimpse into the chaos that a decision can entail.

A New Way to Celebrate St Patrick’s Day

By Paul Van Der Werf on

It’s that time of year where we’re about to celebrate St Patrick’s Day! For most of us, our understanding about St Patrick and his life is seen through the filter of modern St Patrick’s day parties - drinking green beverages and wearing green clothes - or we may even be vaguely aware of the myth about him driving snakes from Ireland or using the clover as a theological metaphor.

Go Beyond a Gap Year: 5 Reasons to Move Overseas after College

By Paul Van Der Werf on

Is the season after college a good time to take a Gap Year?  Kinda but not exactly.  Instead, consider going beyond a gap year in your first step after college.

The concept of taking a Gap Year after high school to travel, serve and learn by experience is normalized in several parts of Europe.  In the last decade or so, it’s jumped the pond, and students and parents alike have warmed to the idea here in the US.

5 Things No One Tells You About Living Overseas

By David Gee on

Figuring out how to live overseas and use your gifts abroad after college is only half the battle. Once you get there, the real fun begins. Only, fun may not be the right word for it. Living life overseas is a rich and often enjoyable experience, but sometimes you get blindsided by the fact that there are tons of things you didn’t expect the experience would entail, and it’ll often leave you scratching your head in the middle of a foreign street lamenting, “Why did no one ever tell me it was going to be like this?”
