05/25/2023 - Summer Before Senior Year (journal entry)
Growing up, I used to dream that I would play soccer for Brazil. They were the best. And I wanted to be the best and play for the best. I didn’t think about how I would get there. It was just a dream.
But, one day, I went to Brasil. I went to play futbole, but not for Brasil. I was playing for a team that I didn't even know existed as a kid. It's a team bigger than any nation. On this team, I was a superstar.
I went to Brasil and I played for the Kingdom of God. There, something that I had been learning for years finally began to make sense. My heart changed. I used to play for myself, for fun and for glory. But now, I was playing for more.
As my perception of the game played, I began to care more about the way I played than the result. The achievement was in the why’s and the how’s. The prize was knowing God.
John 17:3 "And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent."
