A Change in Direction

Posted on Friday, September 12, 2025

Full-time ministry was never something I anticipated being part of my life—certainly not part of my career. As a 2020 COVID graduate with a degree in Communication Studies, I transitioned straight out of college into a sort of “dream career” working within the criminal justice system. But after some deeply formative and wounding experiences, the direction I thought my life was headed completely flipped. Left without a clear path, I had no choice but to turn my eyes back to God and seek His guidance.

There will be dark twists in our stories. God often uses what feels like unbearable darkness to bring us into a radically new phase of our walk with Him. And that’s where GoCorps came into the picture for me. I often tell people that my journey toward global service began unexpectedly—I wasn’t searching for mission-based opportunities when I discovered GoCorps. But through a disorienting season, I realized I only wanted to be where Jesus is—and Jesus is on mission.

GoCorps helped connect me to One Collective’s team in Athens, Greece, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude for God’s goodness in inviting me into this opportunity to serve Him using so many of the skills I’ve been building over the last five years in a more “traditional” career. My heart longs for people to encounter the Lord in a powerful, life-altering way—for the oppressed to be set free, for healing to come where there has been deep pain, and for a future where no one suffers the trauma of sexual exploitation.

If you’re reading this right now—on fire for God and on fire for people—I want to extend this invitation to you: go where God leads you. Trust Him with your life. And know that all miracles begin with an act of obedience.
