Unexpected Changes and Challenges

Getting Settled In

In May, I moved into my apartment and started my new job! It was probably the most change I’ve experienced in one month since moving to Ecuador in the first place. It was weird going from language school 5 days a week to starting my job. I still have language lessons on Fridays, but my weeks look very different now. In addition, I moved into my apartment! I really love it here. I live with one girl from the States and an Ecuadorian girl who is in college. It has been really fun to have my own space again. I am hoping to be able to use this space to have people over and foster community. I always loved hosting in the States so I can’t wait to start again!

How to Get in Contact with Me

I’ve received different people trying to get in contact with me, which has made me worry there may be others who are still using my US phone number. I LOVE talking to you so I wanted to share the best ways to get/keep in contact with me.

• my email has stayed the same: [email protected]

• I have a new phone number, to avoid fees you can use WhatsApp: +593 (country code) 98-932-8174

• or you can use social media! I use Facebook (Michaela Seifert) and Instagram @michaela_seifert

Lots of Goodbyes

As a team, we’ve said lots of “Goodbyes” this month. In June, our country healthcare coordinator (a friend to me), the country director, and my ministry director (also a close friend) are all leaving the field. It was definitely hard to say goodbye (especially on the cusp of saying goodbye to so many when I left the States), but I’m excited to see how the Lord uses each of them in their next phase of life.

What this means for me:

We have hired a new ministry director for ESE. We also went through some restructuring. I am part of two committees, one for general communications and one for Esperanzart, both teams operate in (mostly) English, and then my managers report to our new director. Other than that, my role has not really changed much.

Prayer Requests

• For the team in Ecuador as we experience transition

• Safe travels for all those returning to the States this month

• That God will use my apartment for his glory

Answered Prayers

• My health has stayed good!

• Rain and power (don't take electricity for granted lol)

• I am through with all major parts of culture shock!
• I finished language school and am (mostly) conversational

• I’ve been making really good friends that have been a huge blessing to me

• My apartment has been great and I’m all moved in and feel at home

• Work has been amazing and I feel so welcomed by the team
