Starting with the Drought…
Ecuador (and all of South America) is going through the worst drought it has experienced in over 60 years. This has had many negative affects, including wildfires. In addition to many wildfires (which have affected air quality), we are having to ration water. Also, due to the majority of Ecuador’s electricity being generated in hydroelectric plants, we are experiencing electricity cuts. As of right now, we are having scheduled power outages for approximately 10 hours a day. This is becoming a serious problem and is affecting the lives of sooo many. Please join me in prayer that the Lord would bring rain to Ecuador (and specifically the cities that have the power plants).
In My Ministry
At End Slavery Ecuador, we are continuing to serve the Lord in every way we can. Recently, that has looked like getting to know our women better! The team has just started a new branch of the ministry where we are having “Cafecito” with our women. We buy them a coffee or small breakfast, sit with them, and listen to their stories. This time is meant to be relational more than anything. We want them to know they are seen, loved, and cared about. Although this was just the first week that we invited the women, I can already tell it’s going to be such a fruitful and blessed ministry.
One Collective Latin America Retreat
For those that may not know, my sending organization is One Collective. Every two years, they host a conference with every member that is serving under One Collective in the area. It was such a cool opportunity to get to meet all the different people serving in Latin America. We had people who were serving in Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and, of course, Ecuador! I loved hearing about what the Lord is doing in other countries in Latin America. It was a great time connecting, learning from each other, and growing in the Lord together. One of the sweetest parts of the retreat was the time we spent together worshiping and reading liturgy together. It was such a sweet time, and I’m grateful to have met so many amazing people!
Answered Prayers
• We’ve had several breakthroughs with our women recently!
• I’m always so grateful for Spanish and the ability to communicate here
• I’m starting to feel more at home and like I’m a part of the team at ESE
• I’ve had the opportunity to get more connected and now have a separate, more personal ministry outside of serving on the End Slavery team
• So many sweet friendships that the Lord has developed recently
Prayer Requests
• PLEASE pray for rain, we are going on 5 weeks of power cuts for up to 10hours/day
• One of our women is looking to leave in December once her debts are paid off, please pray that she will be able to find another job come December and she can follow her plan!
• Another one of our women just found out she was pregnant last week. I felt this one personally as she is my age and this will be her fourth child. Please pray for her peace and for God’s provision.
• I got sick on the One Collective Retreat and am struggling to fully get over it. I have had a cough for about two weeks now and would love prayers to fully kick it!
