In YWAM and PNG they have a term called Talk Story. This simply means let's sit down and tell each other about our lives without worrying about time or the to-do list. Just sit and be with me. So I am going to sit and talk story about two of the villages we went to on our last outreach.
There was a mother I was taking care of with two small children after receiving care they went over to our prayer station. One of our DTS leaders got to pray over her and as I looked over I saw the woman crying. Later the leader shared with us how the LORD had told her to pray over this woman as a mother and encourage her. Once done praying she could see the woman’s tears and asked about her story. The woman then shared how her husband had just left her for another woman in another village. The DTS leader was able to share how she went through the same thing and how she knew a God who would bring her through this and hold her during this time because He did the same for her! Wow, what a God we serve. It’s crazy thinking of Ecclesiastes and the enemy has nothing new under the sun. Everyone around the world is dealing with the same hurts, loneliness, and familial troubles. Everyone is going through something and no matter where you try to run in the world you will always find it can never satisfy our deepest longings for our Creator. The Lord is with this mama just as He walked with this DTS leader❤️
This week three Oral Bible Translation staff came with us to the village as they were trying to get in touch the language group. While here we showed the Jesus film, OBT was trying to talk to with the village leaders and ended up finding anew language! One they had been looking for and it ended up being in the same village! After showing the Jesus film the next day a guy came to the clinic and as he was being seen he said after the film they went back home and were all talking about it. He then asked our translator about Jesus He didn’t understand how Jesus was human and God so he asked if Jesus was half man half God? Our translator was able to share the gospel with him and tell him about the verse in Colossians that talks about Jesus being fully GOD and fully man. This new language wants to have the OBT started immediately! We went for one language and the LORD provided two that were willing! We were even able to gift them tok pison bibles. Amazing!! They also cooked us a pig!! It was a beautiful reminder of the reason we are here, not just for medical care, but to share our hope.
