I am currently two months into fundraising and wow have I learned a LOT. The biggest lesson and blessing has been the spirit of thankfulness the LORD has created. We know the LORD provides, all money and resources belong to Him. However, when your whole salary is given to by others it changes your view even more of money and resources. For example, we thank Him for the food that He has given us before a meal but imagine buying a meal overseas with supporter money. The LORD's gift of food is so much more apparent due to their full reliance on him for financial needs. Someone else is buying my food every time I eat and that leads me to an even more thankful posture. God has continued to give more abundantly than I could ever think or imagine(Ephesians 3:20) and not completely in the financial department, but in the spiritual. Learning contentment, trust (lots and lots of trust), rest, hard work, and many many more.
Let me invite you to the table of Thanksgiving with one of many cheerful examples. Imagine you're in the middle of running around (joyfully) to support meetings while texting around ten to fifteen people asking them if they would want to meet with you and answering questions. You also feel bad because you only spent ten minutes in quiet time that morning. Then, your phone lights up with another text you reach for it expecting more questions when you see a familiar friend's name with a text telling you she wants to support you monthly. You're shocked, humbled, and joyful because she is also support raising and you never thought to ask her. This is the feeling of adoration in our Father who takes care of us. I love that I can experience the joys of seeing God's hands move so distinctly. It is a joy to get to sit down with others and share my passion and calling overseas and even more joyous to see their faces light up when they ask to be apart of His work in the nations.
