It all began with a simple meeting over coffee. I never thought much about it and honestly doubted that the Lord would send me. But it was when I simply put my yes forward, that God could direct me to where I am now.
For the past two years, I have lived in Bucharest, Romania. I have been working with international college students. My students come from all over the world. Many of them are from countries that I never knew about before. It has been a blessing to be able to work with them for the past two years.
Becoming a Goer has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. The Lord has grown and shaped me in more ways than I can count. He has been with me on some of the highest mountains (I do mean this somewhat literally) and in the lowest caverns. As I look back at my life, there were moments before moving in that I wondered why I did certain things. Why was theatre a big part of my life? Why did I learn American Sign Language? There were many things that I thought about before going to Romania. The funny thing was that all these things came together in my work in Romania.
I learned that when you are doing what God has called you to do, you can see His hand in everything you do. As I look back at my childhood, I can see how God was preparing me to go. God uses us all in different ways and it is so important that you are where you are planted. As Christians, our mission field is all around us. It is your childhood neighborhood, your grocery store, and everyone that you come in contact with. If you are willing to be used by God, He will use you.
If you are reading this, you may be that person sitting down for a cup of coffee with a coach. You may have just stumbled across GoCorps or maybe you are in the middle of an application. Wherever you are, put your yes before God and He will move. There is nothing more rewarding than that.
