As a kid, did you ever play the game don’t step on a crack on the sidewalk? I don’t know about you, but for most of my life, I have continued to stare at the ground to ensure that I don’t fall or “step on a crack.” For most of my life, I have found comfort in knowing where my foot would land on the pathway. There is a sense of control that every human being desires. In my life, it was wanting to know what I would do next.
During my final semester of college, I thought about what I would do. I didn't know where to go. I knew three things, the first was I wanted to do something in missions, the second was to pursue my passion for Public Relations, and lastly, I felt called to college ministry. Perhaps you are thinking these three things don’t work together. I agree with that sentiment. I guess I should say, I agreed. With GoCorps and InterVarsity, I found an opportunity that allows me to do all three. God made a way!
When I learned about GoCorps, I felt like the Lord was leading me there, but I still wanted control. As I looked through the listings, I thought that there would be no way that I could have a fall launch because the timing would be way too fast. At the time, I was about to graduate from college, and I had other commitments later in the fall that I felt were way too important. That is when the Lord reminded me that His plans are always better. From that moment on, I told the Lord I would say yes until He said no. So I read through the fall listings and knew Romania was where He wanted me to go. I graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor with my BA in Mass Communications/Public Relations and began moving toward my fall launch.
In college, I had many incredible experiences that have allowed me to grow in my relationship with Christ and minister to those around me. I am so excited about this new journey with GoCorp and cannot wait to see the lives of international students in Romania be changed forever.
To everyone reading this, thank you for coming on this journey with me. I can’t wait to see what God has for us in Romania!
