“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
A lot of my previous blogs have been about learning to listen to God or having the courage to obey Him no matter what. While I am rejoicing over how far God has brought me in this, to be honest, every day it is still a struggle.
Often when God tells me to do something, it seems so big and scary. I spend a lot of time wrestling with God or trying to "hype" myself up to do it, trying to be filled with faith or the Holy Spirit. As I face the thing that seems so scary to me, it is like I am trying to build myself up to be big enough to face it. Either that or fighting with God, not wanting to do it at all. In the midst of this, I end up exhausted.
But recently God has been reminding me of these verses..."My yoke is easy and my burden is light".... As I began to think about this I realized something-- often when I do the things God asks me to, I find that it is really easy after all! It is only BEFORE I do them that they appear so big and scary. God began to really speak to me through this: "Hannah, the things I am calling you to are easy and light. It is only you who THINK they are difficult. The enemy lies to you and says they are difficult, he says they are scary. Don't believe His lies! My yoke is easy, my burden is light".
Dear friend when God tells us to do something, sometimes we magnify it to be this giant monster of a thing. We believe the lies of the enemy that God's work is big and scary and requires more faith then we have. When we magnify our fear to such proportions, of course it will take enormous amounts of faith to do such a thing! But when we recognize the things God has for us as easy, light, within our grasp, then all of a sudden we have sufficient faith to do them! God spoke to me that I need to stop trying to muster enough faith to conquer mountains and instead recognize the mountains for the small little ant hills that they really are. His Spirit is living within us! We can easily do anything He asks of us.
His yoke is easy, his burden is light.
His yoke is easy, his burden is light.
His yoke is easy, his burden is light.
His YOKE is easy, if we let Him carry it. A yoke is made for two oxen, not one. If we walk with Jesus and let him carry it for us, it will be easy and light. But if we are stubbornly trying to carry it ourselves, it will be heavy. If we are fighting against Him, it will be hard. But dear friend, if we walk with Him, allowing him to lead and carry the burden for us, the things He asks us to do will be SO SO easy.
You can trust Him.
