Hello there, dear reader! I’m Faith and this is my very first blog post. I’ve recently dived into a season of support raising for ministry in the Middle East where I’ll specifically be working with refugees. I'm so excited to be moving next year, in March of 2022, to help meet refugees in their time of need, sharing the hope of the gospel with them.
Before I share more about how God has lead me to go overseas, let me share a little about myself. I am introverted and empathetic. I love ballet and used to be in a small dance company. I got my bachelor’s degree in International Studies. I grew up going to the beach almost every day as a kid, so often times the ocean feels like home. I love trying new foods—I don’t even have to know what it is, and I’ll just try it anyway. I’m scared of heights. I love the Arabic language and I have so much more to learn about it. I’ve just transitioned out of my last job as a church office assistant. My favorite color is purple. You get the picture.
A lot of these things about me seem random when I look at them, like little puzzle pieces that don’t fit together yet. You might be thinking “How does a ballerina go into the International Studies field?” The answer is simple yet complicated: God’s calling. When I look back on my life, I begin to see how God took what I thought were random callings or random interests and has since used them to prepare me in advance to give Him glory.
All the glory really does go to God. I never knew that being in a dance company would lead to my first mission trip, which is when God first opened my eyes to His heart for the nations. I never knew that learning Arabic is how God would break my heart for the refugees who have had to flee from war and violence in the Middle East. And now, in this support raising season as I’ve been asking the Lord for His provision through the giving of others, I never knew that God would use the phone calling skills I learned in my office job and use them to prepare me for the many phone calls I’ve had to make so far to connect with potential partners! God truly sees the big picture and prepares the way in advance for us, without us even knowing it sometimes. The Apostle Paul even writes, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10) God has good plans for our future, and He knows exactly how to equip us for the tasks and situations He sets before us.

God prepares good works in advance for us. He has created us and prepared us for these good works, and this is all thanks to God’s gift of grace and salvation. The more I live my life for Him, the more I’m seeing the random puzzle pieces fitting together to show the big picture God has for my life. He has a big picture for your life too. God is so faithful to us. Just keep pressing into His guidance, and before you know it, you’ll begin to see the bigger picture that’s being created through each puzzle piece God gives you.
