I stood at the bottom of a massive mountain and looked up to the 2,744 stair steps ahead of me. My stomach turned with anticipation and nerves. I had no idea if I could actually climb this monster, but I really wanted to try. I took my first steps, and it felt great. Around step 500, I started to feel my legs and my breath heaved through my lungs. I looked up again at the stairs looming above me and paused for a moment. My Calling
Recently we have been watching the Chosen at my church. It has given me a new passion for the story of Christ. And I keep finding myself reading about how Jesus called his disciples. Simon’s story in particular is fascinating to me. After all the boats were pulled to shore, Jesus asks to go out on Simon’s boat to speak to the crowd. After his address, he told Simon to cast his net off the side and see what they catch. I imagine Simon’s confused and reluctant posture as he explains they caught nothing that day and it won’t work.
