How Deep The Father's Love For Us

Posted on Friday, February 14, 2020

Happy Valentine’s Day!  I leave for two weeks of training in Chicago in two days.  I look forward to learning more about cross-cultural ministry and how I can be more effective in my country.  I am especially looking forward to reuniting with some of the Goers I met in training last September!  It’s a good feeling to know you have friends all over the world.  It makes it seem a bit more welcoming, knowing a familiar face is never too far away.

I am at about 87% funded monthly.  It’s definitely been a bit of a struggle to gain these last few hundred dollars in monthly support, but God is faithful, and breakthrough is on its way, I can see it coming down the street!  I am so eager to launch to my country; I am praying that there will be only one more post from the US before I leave.  At the same time, I want for God’s perfect will and timing to reign over this whole situation.

By the grace of our God, He has miraculously brought people to me, without me ever having to lift a finger first.  I’m amazed at how potential supporters are approaching me, and so so SO blessed and encouraged because of it!

This month, I have been delighting in the love and perfect provision of our Heavenly Father.  Here are the lyrics to a hymn you may be familiar with, it’s really been on my heart lately.

How deep the Father's love for us

How vast beyond all measure

That He should give His only Son

To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss

The Father turns His face away

As wounds which mar the Chosen One

Bring many sons to glory

Behold the man upon a cross

My sin upon His shoulders

Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice

Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there

Until it was accomplished

His dying breath has brought me life

I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything

No gifts, no power, no wisdom

But I will boast in Jesus Christ

His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?

I cannot give an answer

But this I know with all my heart

His wounds have paid my ransom

Celebration:

  • I am 87% funded, and oh-so-close to being ready to launch!
  • I am leaving for training in Chicago in 2 days!

Supplication:

  • That I would become fully funded and released to depart to my country!
  • That training would be safe and blessed, and that myself and the 7 others going would be well equipped and transformed by the working of the Holy Spirit throughout it!
