God made it very clear that He wanted me to go on this mission to Africa. With the passion He poured in my heart, the confirmation of everyone around me, His whispers and shouts, and the thousands of dollars He provided me with in a matter of weeks – it was obvious. I’m called to Africa.
The weeks before my departure for language study in France, reality hit me and I realized what a huge thing I was stepping into. I didn’t want to do it… But I felt God ask me, “Will you follow me?“ and of course I will God, I love you. So I left.
I’ve been gone for eight weeks now, and though there are sweet moments and joyful days I’m experiencing how truly hard it is to follow God. It feels broken and confusing and exhausting. I cry a lot and I have to fight every day to deny myself and instead say yes to the God that is closer than my very breath, but whom I just don’t understand. And it’s worth it. Not because of all the joy that wells up inside or the gifts He gives or the glory that awaits, but because of Him. He’s worth it. He’s worth every breath, every step, every tear, even if I don’t completely understand.
