If you had told me a year ago everyone God would place in my life and everything He would plant in my heart this past year, I would not have believed you.
I think back on that late autumn night driving home with my mom. I got a text with the GoCorps website and read the anti-human trafficking strategist position open in Africa. I had never heard of the country before that, but with each sentence I read I felt my heart grow heavier and heavier. It was a simple and peaceful tugging from my Jesus.
Prior to that I had so much in mind of exactly what I wanted in a missions position and in an organization and nothing I found had been what we had in mind.
With every person I spoke to, every interview, every question I asked and every answer I got after that, my heart grew with excitement of what He was planting.
Now I’m on a plane coming back home after my final week of pre-field training. Soon I will be on a plane heading to language school. By Christmas I’ll be in Africa with my team that have so quickly become family.
Missionary life is a lot of goodbyes and a lot of heartache, a lot of tears and a lot of pain. But God is faithful. He’s shown me His plans and affirms them over and over. He’s given me strangers I never thought I could love so much. More than anything, He gave up everything for me at the cross.
Jesus, I promise I will give You every part of me in return.
