In just a few days, we will be leaving to begin our two year placement with a month of training. One question that I have been getting a lot in light of our impending departure has been, “how are you feeling?” That is not an easy question to answer, because there are so many emotions mixed together. It's not just excited, or just scared, or just anything. But there is one analogy that I think sums it all up pretty effectively. The combination of emotions that I am feeling is very similar to how I felt as I was about to leave for my first semester of university, but amplified. Everything ahead of us is a distinct question mark, which is nerve racking. Where do I get food? What is the housing situation really going to be like? Who are my friends going to be? But, I am eagerly looking forward to finding out what the answer to those question marks will be! Transition is an exhilerating time, which greatly softens the anxiety, and flavors it with facination.
In the midst of this crazy time, I can’t help but remember the lessons I learned through this season of support raising. Our Father is trustworthy, He is a great provider, He is for His children, He equips those He calls, and He answers prayer. These are the things that I cling to as we prepare to board our long flight overseas.
Merry Christmas everyone!
