A Letter to Future Goers

Things I wish I had known before Going: Language learning, although hard work, can be FUN! Before beginning the process of moving overseas, I had never put in any effort to learn a second language. It wasn’t until I met my wife (she is an ESL teacher and a lifelong student of culture) that I started to realize that there might be value in learning a second language. Even with her encouragement, coming into this two year commitment the aspect of language learning was easily one of the most intimidating parts for me. Learning the language has taken an immense amount of work and is sometimes... Read more

As I was preparing to begin my stint as a Goer, a question frequently repeated itself in my mind: “Am I really equipped for this?” I am called to the task of being Jesus’ witnesses to the ends of the earth and making disciples of all nations, but do I have what is necessary to accomplish this mission? Abundant Food in the Fallow Ground of the Poor

“Abundant food is in the fallow ground of the poor, But it is swept away by injustice.” Prov 13:23 The Lord has really impressed this verse on my heart over the last month, and I am not yet sure what He is trying to teach me through it. One thing I am sure of though-- this proverb rings very true if we look closely. The NGO Rare recently posted an article describing the need for their “Lands for Life” program which illustrated this truth quite well. They shared the story of a Columbian farmer called José and the issues he is facing: “José has farmed the same way for generations: He... Read more

We are very excited to share that we have officially decided to continue with our team here in SE Asia LONG TERM after our first two year commitment ends. We feel like very exciting rolls have taken shape for both my wife and I professionally, and that the Lord has opened amazing doors and gone before us in a powerful way in ministry. We are excited to say “yes” to being faithful where He has placed us. Currently we are back in the States preparing for continuing on long term, and as we are making sure we have all we need and that everything is in place, I thought it would be fun to drop a... A particular passion of mine is to see a love for Christ spread among the unreached peoples of the World. For those unfamiliar with the terms, the 1982 Lausanne Committee Chicago meeting defined a People Group as “For evangelization purposes, a people group is the largest group within which the Gospel can spread as a church planting movement without encountering barriers of understanding or acceptance”, and an Unreached People Group is a People Group without a reported self-sustaining Gospel Movement (see joshuaproject.net for more info). About two years ago, our team was invited by local... Read more
