The Daily Life of a Language Learner

Posted on Sunday, June 16, 2019

A couple weeks ago I finished up a video on our blog that was sent to all of our supporters. It contained the scenes and happenings that only seem redundant for us, but were completely new sights for each person back at home. Our mom's had some tears, many were thankful, and everyone was able to relate a little bit more to us here. In two days we will have been in Peru for 4 months already! For my sister 4 months ago she was having snow days, but now she has graduated high school and sooner than later will be considered a college student. For us in Arequipa, Peru, the weather has barely changed and we continue to plug away at our Spanish learning. One thing I keep need to remind myself is that God has us in each place, doing each task, and being with certain people for a purpose bigger than we know. Our time solely learning and attending church and Bible study does not need to be compared to our future time serving the Yanesha people in the jungles of Peru. If it is for God's glory, He is smiling down on you thinking, "Well done, my good and faithful servant. (Matthew 25:21) I encourage you that every day or year spent is not just to climb the ladder of success - in a career, a social status, or even your relationship with God. Rather, follow His guidance and who He created you to be in serving Him. Maybe even...join GoCorps!

I hope you enjoy this video of a day in the life of Sophie and me!
