Like a deer longing for water, freedom, you are far.
How long should I wait to be with you freedom?
Night may embrace me and moon smile down upon me
But I am perceived as a black sheep out in the left field.
In schools, hospitals and garda stations you are nowhere to be seen;
I am dog-tired of looking for you, freedom.
To express myself is forbidden;
I am still frightened to further get hold of you.
From Cape to Cairo, freedom you are not fully fledged.
My heart locks on you but my fellows ignore you.
When will you free me from this bondage?

This past month I took some time away from normal work to partner with a friend in Ireland who is raising awareness and support for the fight against human trafficking in Ireland. I was one of many dancers and artists who came together to tell the hidden and traumatic stories of those who have been trafficked, but also the hope of their rescue and recovery. It was such a sweet time for me to dance again! For much of my journey with the Lord dance has been my heart song of worship, prayer, and expression. But it is also a part of my life that I have deliberately laid aside to follow bigger and betting things in this season. So to see my passion for fighting opression using my heart's language of dance was an answer to a longing I forgot I had.
