I am currently half-way through support raising, which means that I am that much closer to getting to the field! I am excited about what is to come, but I still have much work to do beforehand. It's not particularly easy, but I know that I will find fulfillment through this process. It is helpful to have others on my team who have been in a similar position, or who are working through these things now. My job of working with refugees is important work needing to be done—and critical, at the moment—thus, it deserves to be given my full attention. This means coming at my current work of support raising full force. In the wake of life, I cannot say that is always true. Sometimes I get lost in more immediate issues, or even discouragement at the lengthy process and hard work necessary to achieve my goal in a small window.
However, I also think about what lies ahead of me with the interactions I might have in the future. The impact I could make on someone's life. I also think back to past experiences which have lead me to this calling. Most importantly, God is never far off in times of discouragement. He is constantly there nudging me along. He is always reinforcing me through His Word.
I do not have to do this alone. I have God behind me, beside me, in front of me, helping me to do this work. He carries the weight of it all. I also have plenty of supporters surrounding me. This truly is a team effort, and could not be possible without each one.
So, to that I say, "thank you!" It truly means so much to me!
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." - Joshua 1:9
