The One With Quiet Songs

“What am I doing?”

This is a category option we have for posting our blogs here and really it is a deep question. I’ve been asking myself this a lot the last two weeks.

On February 23 I finished up my training in North Carolina, and as of Monday night, I am back “home.” For about the past week two weeks, I have had many conversations with friends, co-laborers, and supporters. I have also had many prayers. All of them are rooted in, “What am I doing, LORD?”

About a year ago, I was at a conference where I first met my sending organization. Although I was hesitant to admit it, God was pulling at my heart strings again. He was gently tugging me to consider. In that moment, it was considering not fulfilling the typical “American Dream” of getting a 9-5 job, making a decent wage, and eventually making a family of my own all within a reasonable distance from “home.”

Slowly, I responded “yes. Yes, Lord. I will go. YES.” And thus, began my whirlwind journey.

Along the way though, I began asking again, “What am I doing?” Every time, God has been faithful to answer me in verbal affirmation from others, financial affirmation in support raising, or inner calm from His holy word.

In these last two weeks though, I feel as if my prayers have fallen on deaf ears. But through it all, I know (I KNOW) that God is still listening to my quiet prayers of confusion.

And quietly, I hear in response “All glory be to Christ our king.”

This is not always the answer we seek, but for now, God is faithful and just to listen and guide me. I will continue to reaffirm my commitment to bringing glory to Christ, and I trust that in doing so, I will stand under His will and love.

Please join me in prayer and song these coming weeks as I continue to discern what I am doing & raise support for the work overseas God has called me to. If you are stuck in quiet prayers, please know that He is there, holding your hand, and listening. I would also love to continue to pray for all of my supporters, so feel free to contact me with your own requests and praises.

~ All Glory Be to Christ,

Eden
