There's a place...

Posted on Saturday, April 28, 2018

There’s a place somewhere in between contentment and a yearning for the unknown where I find myself near to the Lord. It surely is a mystery I cannot fully comprehend but am wittingly confident that without it life would be expectantly mundane. After seven years, I find myself back in California after a two-month inculturation training in Union Mills, NC, to raise the rest of my support. The C&MA Hmong District approved affiliation with United World Missions, approved my church in Minnesota to be my sending church, but will not support me financially and will not allow me to reach out to other Hmong churches within the district for support. At first, I felt really numb to the Hmong District’s response, but if I’m honest it was a hurt that God is still drawing me to embrace. On top of that, changes in friendship relationships and church connections here in California were lost due to distance and time, making support raising my first month back slow and draining. I know everything is in the Lord’s time and there is a reason why I am where I am; I am living for that reason and the Lord has shown me great joy. However, I would be lying if I didn’t say that my yearning to be used by the Lord to share the gospel to the unreached hasn’t inflamed; it is much greater than before, and this is only the Lord’s doing. Amidst the wait, God continues to show up in every possible way to fill up my cup, to have it emptied again, as I fully live present here. I realize that the place somewhere in between contentment and a yearning for the unknown where I find myself near to the Lord, is trust.
