As I sit here writing my very first blog as a “goer”, I can’t help but feel completely excited to jump into my support raising campaign. If I could ask myself a year ago how I felt about fundraising, my response would probably come out sounding like an exhausted sigh, an obvious sign of burnout and disappointment. So, being in the mindset that I am now is nothing short of a miracle.
Over the last few months God has been gently shifting my perspective on support raising through prayer, good conversations, and the training and support from the GoCorps staff. Will it be a difficult journey? Yes, and I anticipate having, not one, but multiple hard days. But the joy and the reward that is to come through partnering with others to accomplish a larger goal is something that I now find incredibly worthwhile.
It’s easy for me sometimes to forget the importance of what is going on right now, and to instead look far ahead into the future and fantasize about all of the awesome things to come in Rome (where I will be spending two years in anti-trafficking ministry). A close friend of mine always says, “savor your season”, and I just think this is a great reminder to be fully and faithfully present in the time that God has us in now. As I continue on today and tomorrow and the weeks to come, my prayer is that I would see this season as a time to be cherished, to be present, and to be focused on the Lord.
It’s time to take the plunge!
