My Letter to Future Goers

Posted on Thursday, August 30, 2018

You're probably wondering if this organization or this ministry opportunity is worth all the stress of support-raising/having to ask others for money, acclimation into a new culture, being stressed out more than once about crazy life changes...

It is.

Every single one of those people and potential relationships you could make during your 2 years is more than worth it all.

I have now spent 2 years working in a teaching job that I had no experience in, in a country I had never been to before, in a language I had never even heard of, and in a city without anyone else on my ministry team. Throughout all of those trials (one of which I had no idea was going to happen), I experienced a lot of low times but a lot more highs and higher than I ever expected!

Being on the other side of that time now, I can see how much I have matured not just as a teacher or even as a person but as a believer. Honestly, with all of those trials I mentioned, I absolutely could not have done it without God. And sometimes it was not just God but specific people that He placed in my life to be that mentor or vital community that I needed in that exact moment.

I hope that as you are looking at all the other job opportunities available to you, you will at least consider and pray about doing the work that will matter most in the end: Living out Christ's love to those who need it most. I absolutely do not regret any part of my 2 years here and I have actually decided to stay on for the forseeable future because of the amazing relationships I have made here with a lot of beautiful people.

And, if you have decided to work with GoCorps and are worried about that decision, God will find a way to bring good out of whatever you are doing no matter how good or bad you think you will be. God blesses those he sends; He never leaves you alone or empty-handed.

Christina

P.S. - I promise that's only sparkling apple cider ;)
