A Tuesday in the Life of Ramsey

Posted on Tuesday, December 12, 2017

Every Tuesday at die Arche (my primary ministry) is "Lesestunde mit Ramsey" which means, "Reading Hour with Ramsey." I get the opportunity to read a Bible story to kids in a comfy room with pillows, blankets, candles, cookies, and hot tea. This all proves to be quite difficult since everything is in German! But after 2 years here, thankfully I can hold my own. Different kids come each week. But almost every week there are a ton of curious questions after the story because most of them have never heard Bible stories before. Some of the questions I've recieved are, "What happens when God is with us?", "Why did Jesus die on the cross?", "Who is Jesus and is He alive?", "Is Jesus in your heart?" I am always overjoyed when I get these questions! I love answering them. One of my most recent favorite questions asked was, "I've never prayed in my life before. Can you show us how to pray?" Now, the boys who asked me this question were boys who you'd never expect to ask this. They are always the trouble makers and class clowns. They try to break as many rules as possible without getting in trouble and they think they are really cool. But when I showed them how to pray they were so excited to do it for the first time. They all got on their knees and folded their hands together (even though I told them they didn't need to.) Afterwards, one of the boys asked if he could borrow a Bible over the weekend. Obviously I said yes and the next when I asked him about it he said that he read a lot of it and found it interesting and cool. These are just some examples of why I LOVE what I get to do everyday.
