Well, I’m a little late in posting this blog. I was wanting September’s blog to read that I am fully funded. However, I still can’t do that. I’m so close though! I’m about 85% funded. Which is still incredible. God’s provision is just so perfect. I’ve basically stood with my mouth wide open in awe at God for the past 4 months.
For those of you who haven’t heard yet, I’m not moving to Berlin until January. There were only two of us from GoCorps joining the team in Berlin in September, and there are four more missionaries joining in January. The Berlin team thought it best for us all to come together in January instead of at separate times. This creates a better learning environment and more team unity. At first, I was a little disappointed at this news, as I was ready to leave in September. However, after a lot of prayer and a little bit of hindsight, I can really see how perfect God’s plan and timing is!
I’m so thankful for this time to prepare even more for the mission field in Berlin. I’m throwing myself into the Word of God and into prayer. God is so good! I recently had a conversation with someone on a plane, and I knew the Holy Spirit wanted me to share His truth with her. And not just the gospel, but some hard to hear truth that you normally wouldn’t share with a stranger. I had no idea what to say. I was so scared that she was going to be offended and that we would have to sit awkwardly together for the rest of the flight. So I just kept praying, “Holy Spirit, give me the words, give me the words…” And then I started speaking. I had no idea at that point if those were my words or the Lord’s. I just started speaking what I knew was truth. After I nervously finished what I had to say, she said to me, “I really respect that. I’ve never had anyone tell me that so gently and with so much love. Christians are normally so judgmental and mean to me.” I was praising Jesus. They weren’t my words! He answered my prayer! It was just such a great reminder for me that when I am in Berlin, and I am dealing with situations and conversations that are literally foreign and really scary, God’s got me. When we are surrendered to Him, we don’t have to worry about provision, the right words, or awkward situations. He will be glorified when we are surrendered to Him.
“And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things. Instead, seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you.”-Luke 12:29-31
