If God has indeed led you to this, He will give you the strength and grace to make it through, even if “making it through” means leaving the field before two years is up. It will not be easy; some days will make two years seem like an eternity. He has opened to you the way to eternity through Christ, though, and He will be with you even when you can’t feel it.
Remember to show yourself grace. The place you’ve been, probably a college in your culture hopefully surrounded by people who love you, get you, and point you to Jesus, is worlds apart from where you’re going. God is the same, though, and He will provide you with people that love you and that you love, and the cool part is you might not even speak the same language at first.
You can’t do this. God can do this through you. You will see the parts of yourself that never saw daylight in the comfort of your own culture, parts of yourself that you might wish would stay tucked away in the basement of your being. God can redeem those things. Part of why you’re going might even be so that He can change those things, whether you know it now or not.
In these two years, the lows might be lower than you’ve ever experienced, and the highs might be higher. Somehow, you get both and then you get all the mundaneness of everyday life, just in a different place. You’ll adjust a lot quicker than you might expect, and the magic might not seem so magical anymore. The Author and Perfector will be there to listen, then, too. Journaling is your friend. Find someone who you can talk to and who can mentor you where you’re at, someone who knows more about the place you live and what it’s like to lead this kind of life.
Keep seeking God first and watch where He takes you. He’s the one that makes all this happen, He’s brought you to this point, and He is faithful to His promises.
