Much has happened since I last wrote. I have eaten traditional tribal food, I have attended There is Hope staff meetings, I have learned my way around in the city, I have been to the beautiful Lake Malawi, I have visited Malawian markets and grocery stores, and I now have a house and a car!
Moving in to a new house is something that I don't have any memories of, so this has been a very new experience. I touched down in Malawi early on Friday morning on October the 16th. The last 24 hours had gone as smoothly as could be hoped for when travelling halfway around the world and making stops in two different countries along the way. Malawi is a mostly flat country with small bushes dotting the landscape. Mountains can be seen the distance, and in the dry season, most of the dirt is turned up into rows, as the farms prepare to plant their maize. It is safe to say that I was excited to see the new sights, meet my new friends, and begin life in Malawi!

So this is the first post of many as I officially start my journey towards Malawi. On Monday, the 25th of May, I arrived in Minneapolis, Minnesota for 5 days of training and team build with GoCorps. GoCorps is an organization that serves to connect recent college graduates with numerous sending organizations, for mid-term missions. GoCorps connected me with International Teams, which is sending me, for 2 years, to work in the Dzaleka refugee camp near the capital city of Lilongwe, Malawi.
