So this is the first post of many as I officially start my journey towards Malawi. On Monday, the 25th of May, I arrived in Minneapolis, Minnesota for 5 days of training and team build with GoCorps. GoCorps is an organization that serves to connect recent college graduates with numerous sending organizations, for mid-term missions. GoCorps connected me with International Teams, which is sending me, for 2 years, to work in the Dzaleka refugee camp near the capital city of Lilongwe, Malawi.
This week has consisted of many hours of learning about how to gain partners who will be excited to join with me in my mission to be a part of a team that brings holistic healing to the refugees of Malawi. I am here with about 20 other Goers, as we each prepare to head out to places all around the world. This has been an exciting time for me of building a vision for what I will be doing, as well as getting to know many other like-minded people my age. We have been able to connect through numerous meals together, games of ultimate frisbee, and a very cold dip in the St Croix River! After this week, I even more excited for what is to come, and the journey that God will lead me on!
