Inexperience

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Europe

I leave for the field in 5 days. There are a lot of emotions going on right now and one of those is nervousness. I'm not really nervous about moving to a new country, or living in the Middle East, or learning a new language. I'm nervous about how I will contribute to a team when I have virtually no experience. I'm not a scholar of theology. I don't know Arabic or Persian. I don't know much about Islam. I have no experience working with refugees. I haven't traveled all over the world on short-term mission trips and study-abroads. I've never been to my host country before. I studied… Read more >>

Brave to be leaving home to live in the Middle East. Brave to be doing something completely different from what I just spent 4 years studying in college (No, I probably won't be doing any neuroscience while I'm abroad). But I don't feel brave. What is… Read more >>

The past 4 years have been a blast and Pittsburgh has become one of my favorite cities, although it could do with a bit more sunshine. My life in the Steel City has come to a close though and in the fall I'll be heading to the Middle East to work with a refugee ministry.  I am very excited to explore a new city and culture, and I can't wait to try the food! I know that God is going to challenge me and make me grow in many new ways over the next few months and years, and I… Read more >>
