A Month of Connections

February was a short but awesome month. We have connected with our students in many different ways and are amazed to see how our Papa has been guiding us in this.

Teaching:

I had the opportunity of teaching at a middle school for "gifted children" for a couple of months. My class consisted of 6 precious 7th grade girls. In the beginning of this month we talked about beauty and I used the fruits of the Sp1r1t to teach my girls real "Traits of Beauty". I guess when you teach the Truth, you hope people will grasp and understand what you tell them. During these lessons I wasn't sure how much my 7th grade girls were understanding me, which brought doubt to my mind. But in the mist of my doubt, during class I had a vision of one of the girls learning about the Fruits of the Sp1r1t later in life and remembering that she had learned them in class before! It was an amazing moment! I was very encouraged and humbled to remember that all we have to do is plant the seed and our Papa will make it grow with His perfect timing. PTL!

Hang outs:

The beginning of this month we went bowling with a group of students and had a blast! We noticed that our "English Clubs/Game Nights" were more focused for teenagers, so we have been trying different things to connect with the older students. So far the best way to get to know the young adults and adults is by spending time with them outside of class. Since hockey is big here so we decided to invite some students to watch the local hockey team play . Events such as bowling and hockey have been a great way for our students to practice their English more, but what is even greater are the talks we have with some of them about life, decisions, and even beliefs! Due to their success, we will continue to do different things with our students as our Papa leads us.

Spring:

Spring is supposed to arrive tomorrow. One of our students said, "For Spring nothing really changes with the weather, but it makes people happier." Upon hearing this, we like the idea of being happy and we shall join them in their happiness :) Speaking of weather, we both have truly enjoyed this cold weather much more than we could have imagined. Our city is still covered in 3 feet of snow and the temperature is still in the negatives, but it is so beautiful. Every time I see the fresh powdered snow, I remember the words from hymn "Whiter than the snow, whiter than the snow, wash me in the blood of the Lamb and I shall be whiter than the snow."  What a beautiful truth. Below is a picture of our winter-wonderland right in front of our school.

We lift you up today and may our Papa continue to guide, protect, and pour out His love over you.

Much love!
