For the past weeks we have been trying to converse with our students about many things about their country. The subject that always seems to be an interesting topic is their history. Being a fairly new country they have experienced a lot. We have heard positive things and negative things about their history but what seems to be the theme is that this country is still trying to find out who they are and as a result their residents are doing the same. The majority of those we talk to culturally believe in Islam and a smaller portion of them are Russian Orthodox. Surprisingly, they don't really seem as dedictated in either religion and are okay believing in anything. For example, we were surprised to see this beautiful Catholic Cathedral a few blocks away to a beautiful newly built mosque to its left side (see picture above). Don't get me wrong, they seem to practice major aspects of each religion but the missing piece we each have felt before believing is at large. But that is where the joy of this update comes in. The group of like minded people continue to do work around the city and are of such a great encouragement. Also, sports and various activities with our students seems to be a continued attraction. We will continue to hang out with them and allow our Father and His spir!t to do what they do best as we just love and enjoy our life following Him.
