March!

Posted on Saturday, March 1, 2014

Language has been a bit of struggle, but I continue to be encouraged by the team members I study with and also by my teacher. I appreciate how caring others are towards me..especially at this point in learning. My teacher has been offering me a little one on one time, and that has been helpful. I've also been seeking extra help from another teacher and looking forward to how that will benefit me..hopefully I will be improving more and more and become bolder in the next couple months!

This past week, our foundation has decided to take a short term mission team; they'll be here for the month of May. Some of them will be living in my community, and most likely helping out with the library, as the children in our community will be out of school! It's actually on myself and few others to find things for this short term team to help with while they are here. It will be an interesting experience for me to be a part in organizing this. We are hoping for a group of flexible, hard working people!
Also wanted to share how much I have been enjoying some neighbors in my community. There have been so many little things they do to look out for me, or just make me smile. I appreciate and respect them so much. I'm just looking forward to being able to communicate with them better.

Coming up:- First thing next week, we are headed to immigration....oh so fun! Hoping our visas will work out ok!
- Our Youth Leadership Development program (I was helping with guitar) has our final event for the term next Saturday. We will be in a small community sharing about what students have done with us, and inviting new people to join. It's exciting that we get to do this because our foundation hasn't done very much in this community in the past, and the community leaders seem very happy to have us!

- There are many opportunities for teaching English at Krungthai Church (the church I went to the retreat with). With YLD being done, I am going to start a transition to serving at the church more. I'm curious to see what I will end up doing and if it will be a good fit. Really embracing trail and error! Keeps things exciting!

- Toward the end of March, our team will get a training and then join in a night of outreach with an organization in Bangkok called Nightlight. They work in the Red Light Districts downtown. I've been looking forward to learning more about this ministry since I've gotten here.

Thanks for reading. Hope you always feel welcome to ask me questions, or share with me what's going on in your life. I'd enjoy either!

Love,

Carrie
