God continues to have his hand on the young men of an unaccompanied minor shelter at which some teammates and I serve. The past month with them has been a joyful and painful experience. Joyful in that the core group of new brothers is growing tremendously despite the many obstacles of being refugees and without family. They have even begun a scriptural study of their own in the shelter after the lights go off, and other guys at the shelter have been joining in, hearing the good news for the first time! And painful in that the time has come for one of those guys, and will soon come for a couple others, to leave the shelter as they age out. They are in most ways completely on their own in terms of finding housing, jobs, etc. after the exit, so we’ve been striving with them to facilitate the process of a sustainable living situation. Even in the struggle and uncertainty, however, the provision of God has been very evident, and has further ensured their confidence that “Tek ümidim İsa” (“Jesus is my only hope”—quoted from one of the guys). Please lift them up to the Lord--provision for the future, continued growth, and a flourishing movement as they proclaim truth to their friends.
