(CLOSED) Servant Leadership and Community Development in Central Asia

For one month this summer, apply and develop your professional skills by participating in an opportunity as a summer intern. During your time in Central Asia, you will participate in a two-week Servant Leadership Academy (SLA) with students from around the world, learning principles of servant leadership and collaborating with those of different backgrounds. Academy participants live and work together 24/7 and will be introduced to businesses and organizations in the community that incorporate servant leadership principles and practices.

Participants in the SLA will be practicing servant leadership in daily sessions with the other participants, as well as during daily visits to businesses and organizations that are implementing servant leadership principles as they conduct their business or non-profit activities. As participants live day-in and day-out in cross-cultural groupings for housing and meals, all will grow in their relational understanding as they share their life stories and experiences and increase their intercultural competency.

Upon completion of the servant leadership academy, the university will provide a two-week cultural program, including ongoing service in the community. This may include additional visits to local businesses and organizations, with the opportunity to meet many people and build relationships, exploring the fascinating cultures of the many people groups who call the country home.

You will have the opportunity to spend time with students during and outside of program time, building relationships and sharing your faith. You will be fully immersed in local society, learning some language and culture, exploring the city and surrounding vicinity and experiencing what it means to be a long-term overseas worker.
