Family, friends, and friends of friends:
Welcome to my new Goer Blog! I will be posting once to twice a month about life and thoughts as I follow Jesus. Many of you know of the recent call God has placed upon my life. For those of you who don’t, I hope this gives you some insight to what has been unfolding before me these past few months!
My last three months of college, I was in the middle of job interviews, and wrapping up senior thesis. I was also having conversations with a GoCorps mobilizer about how I could use my art degree and passion for working with people and sharing the love of Christ with the ones feeling unreached, unloved and forgotten. I was told that I could work overseas in the field of ministry and reach people with my art degree through an organization called GoCorps. What is GoCorps? Well, I’m glad your wondering! In short, it’s GoCorps mission to connect young (20 something) Christians to organizations that allow them to use their degree overseas, and share the gospel! GoCorps sends their goers (that’s me!) to places and people in need of Christ’s love!
After much prayer, and half a year later I’ve found myself not only a Goer, but on the EFCA Reach Global team and committed to two years of ministry with my team in Berlin, Germany! Woah, God has done some amazing work! (And He’s not done yet!)
Part of being a goer means attending GoWeek, an orientation training to learn tools and resources to effectively prepare and dive into our ministry! We (Goer Class of 2016, Winter Launch) are currently just wrapping up GoWeek! It’s been a long week, but it’s been a week full of learning, joy, support, love, challenge, and reassurance! Aside from all the great tools and support raising training, a lot of excitement has filled me this week after finally meeting a few members of my Reach Global team that will be launching to Berlin with me in January! It’s been great to talk through the struggles, joys, and places God’s been moving in my life with these beautiful friends who are also on this path to work in Germany! God’s strategically placed reaching people in Berlin through arts and media in my path, and I had no idea the entirety of what I was taking on, but I knew I needed to say yes. That’s why GoWeek has been so essential to my forward-moving motivation!
I’ve learned a lot about myself this week, and God’s been both challenging me to trust him more then I knew was possible and working on my heart in so many different ways! I’m really excited to continue sharing with you as I begin my ministry and work towards launching to serve and love those near to my heart which includes those in Berlin!
