I always thought everyone had this deep desire to travel and experience new cultures. It was not until about 2 years ago that I learned that was not actually true. Last summer I got the opportunity to serve on the One Collective team in Bulgaria for 6 weeks. I worked with teenagers in the Roma population of a village called Tulovo. At the end of my 6 weeks, I absolutely did NOT want to return to the States (I probably wouldn’t have if I didn’t have to finish my senior year of college.) But I realized I was called to missions.
I got back to the States and decided to check out GoCorps’ placements. I for sure thought I was going to go back to Bulgaria, but I still decided to check out some other teams. The Central Athens, Greece team stood out to me. I wish I had some kind of big dramatic story that caused me to join that team, but instead I thought it was cool and prayed about it, and it just felt right. When I officially decided to join the team, I felt so confident in my decision that it just had to be the Spirit affirming that decision.
I am so excited for my next 2 years and the incredible things God is going to do. As I enter this fundraising season, I am really leaning into the fact that the Lord is a provider and will not call me anywhere without giving me a way to get there!
