These last few weeks, I’ve found myself deep in the book of Psalms, particularly going back to Psalm 91 time and time again. The Psalm focuses on dwelling and this idea of making the Lord the foundation of our dwelling as believers.
According to the Webster Dictionary, the term "dwell" refers to living in a particular place.
As I've been settling more and more into life and routine in Athens—as I've been establishing a sense of dwelling in this city—I find myself returning to one question:
"Am I dwelling in the presence and refuge of the Lord as intentionally as I'm dwelling here?"
It's a simple question, but one that has exposed where some of my priorities have quietly shifted. As I've grown more comfortable with the rhythms of everyday life, I've realized how easily good things can begin to compete for the time and attention that belong first to the Lord. Tasks, routines, relationships, and even ministry itself can slowly crowd out the quiet place where my soul finds its refuge.
This question has become a gentle invitation to examine where I'm truly making my home. Am I merely building a life in Athens, or am I continually choosing to abide in the shelter of the Most High? The more I reflect on it, the more I'm reminded that no city, routine, or sense of stability can ever provide the security, peace, and rest that are found only in His presence.
