We spent two days in a village named Benching. Honestly, our team had a poor mindset on our way there. We had been focusing on serving a different village nearby, and this side quest to Benching felt like a distraction from our main goal. But little did we know what the Lord had in store for us.
Upon our arrival, the village gave us the biggest welcoming ceremony we've ever received. A large group of people, all dressed up, danced around us as we walked through the flowers and palm leaves they had spread along the ground. They prepared a feast of chicken, fruit, and cakes in our honor.
After that, our team conducted both an afternoon and a night program for the village. We talked extensively about the importance of Christian community and Bible study, and we shared the Gospel of Jesus in simple terms. We always conclude our programs by inviting anyone who wants prayer to come forward, but the impact of that particular night was profound. Many individuals of varying ages approached us, seeking prayer for deep personal matters. Some desired help in following Jesus more closely, while others confided specific sins they wanted to turn away from or expressed a desire to follow Jesus for the first time.
It was truly a beautiful time, with the Holy Spirit at work in people's hearts in a special way that night. To think that my team initially didn’t want to go! What treasures we would have missed out on!
