In these final days before entering fielded cross-cultural ministry, it has never been more apparent that the enemy is lurking. The Bible does not exaggerate when it refers to the adversary as a prowling lion seeking to devour (1 Peter 5:8), and his favored victims are unbelievers and those seeking to follow the will of God. While no one wants to be in the line of fire, I have found it is the best place to be if the Lord has called you to it. When trials and warfare come, will you forsake the Lord like dead men or stay and fight in the Lord's strength? You must ask yourself what our Lord asked the disciples after a hard teaching, "Are you also going to leave (John 6:67)?" He is not asking us to have it figured out or even understand, but he is asking for our faith in trusting Him. When we or our loved ones are being attacked, our natural response is doubt. One must remember that doubt does not disqualify one from faith or ministry, but it can strengthen or weaken our trust in the Lord; the decision is yours. Choose today to believe the truth that in all things we are more than a conqueror through him who loved us; neither death nor life, angels or demons, things present or to come, nor powers, nor heights or depths, nor anything else in all creation can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:37-39). We know that those who put their trust in the Lord, He does not forsake (Psalm 9:10), so trust Him with the battles before you.
