6-month Reflections

Posted on Sunday, March 24, 2024

It is hard to believe it has already been about 6 months since leaving home! It has felt like an instant and a lifetime all at once. My first 3 months were spent in the United States preparing for the field. We covered a variety of topics, from the character and nature of God, spiritual warfare, missions, and sharing the gospel. We were given training for our roles on staff. The next 3 months, we spent in Papua New Guinea putting into practice the things we learned. Our team had the opportunity to minister through prayer, house visits, street evangelism, church ministry, children’s ministry, and hospital ministry, among others. Even through the challenges we faced, the Lord’s faithfulness was so very evident during outreach.

Now, I am in the middle of the transition into my role on staff. After over a year of considering this opportunity, it is exciting to do what I came here to do and practice nursing! However, while the season of preparation was a long one, it is not one that I would not trade for anything. I am so thankful for the ways that the Lord has worked, and it makes me so excited to see what he has in store for the next year and a half!
