Hi there, whoever is reading this (whether you’re a friend, supporter, or someone interested in pursuing missions for 2 years with GoCorp)! My hope for this blog is to monthly chronicle/reflect on the journey God takes me on these upcoming 2 years but also serve as an encouragement for others reading.
I recently signed up to run the Houston full marathon in January 2022 before I plan to leave for overseas. Why? Well for one I promised one of my best friends that I would run one with him so I thought - better now than later when I’m older and slower. The other reason though is a bit more serious. I’ve always loved sports and being active, but never really trained hard or disciplined myself to do something that I didn’t enjoy quickly or easily got good at. I feel like my walk with Jesus has been similar in that I was never a great evangelizer or talker, but as I’ve grown and slowly worked at practicing to share the gospel and be more intentional in my faith, God continues to show me how He is at work and not me.
I’m now preparing to go serve in Bulgaria working part-time in a business as missions (BAM) setting while also serving through my organization’s non-profit ministry with local at-risk students.
How God has led me to this point has been a long journey beginning probably since high school as He’s taken me in various directions slowly guiding me towards missions. 3 years ago I never would have imagined having worked during a pandemic, doing a missions internship in Houston, and starting support raising to go overseas!
My prayer is that through the ups and downs of serving overseas, I can faithfully obey God and run the race for the prize as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 9:24 just like my training for the finisher medal in the marathon. Until next time, до скоро (see you later)!
