...but God is with us.

Posted on Monday, December 7, 2020

I am in week 10 of support raising and just found out that I am fully funded… WHAT? This is wild and crazy and 100% a testimony of the Lord’s provision. With this mega milestone reached I have started to reflect on this support raising journey.

I remember how I felt right before GoWeek. I was so anxious about support raising. My mind ran rampant with fears about how others would perceive me while support raising, how they would react when I presented a financial ask, and thinking about what would happen if I couldn’t raise enough support. I also remember feeling like I shouldn’t be feeling this way. If support raising was something the Bible supported and an opportunity to serve God why was I so stinkin’ scared?

GoWeek was amazing and I left with a renewed sense of the vision for support raising, but the anxiety and fears still hadn’t completely dissipated. Thus, began an amazing journey with the Lord. I began thinking about who God is and who I am in Him. I started thinking about what the scriptures show about who God is and what He asks of his people. I began realizing something, that over and over again the Lord invited people to do some crazy things. Noah building the ark, Abraham leaving his homeland to go to an unknown place, Moses journeying back to Egypt to free an entire nation, the Israelites walking around Jericho to bring those wall down, Nehemiah asking his king to go rebuild the temple, and then Jesus leaving heaven to save us and invite us into the crazy journey of dying to ourselves and living a life of boldness for His glory. The stories could go on and on. Within these stories there is a theme, people are scared and hesitant, but God is with them and he reminds them of this promise and beckons them not to fear. He is faithful in His promises to remain with us and it is the beauty of that promise that propels us not to fear and run away, but to cling to Him.

I am so thankful for our faithful God, who even in my mess, in my fear and in my trembling, invites me to do something a little crazy and promises to be by my side through it all.
