Some areas in our nation have been under a coin shortage. Though most of us ignore them, we have daily reminders in our hands, pockets, and wallets of our need to trust in God. I respect our ancestors for imprinting this need on us in such a simple way. However, if our world goes cashless, will that reminder be gone? I think not. Wherever we are on this planet, God continues to be faithful to show us who He is through His creation and His word, and even though our country’s future is uncertain, we can trust in Him. God has shown His faithfulness to me through “coincidences” that keep popping up during this fundraising season. On a particular week, I prayed for a 20% increase in my support and God provided 25%!
God was also faithful to a Bible character that keeps coming to mind. Esther was her name and even though at times she faced insurmountable odds, she seized the opportunity to be a part of what God was doing. In Esther 4:14 Mordecai states that he trusts God to provide deliverance for the Jewish people even if Esther dies, but in his famous quote “who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”, Mordecai urges Esther to take the risk because she has the opportunity. Who knows how God will use me in the field? Is it risky? Potentially. But life is full of risk which gives us even more reason to trust God. He did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind (2Tim 1:7).
