How Did I Get Here??

Hi there!

My name’s Hannah and I’m a 2020 Goer! I graduated from George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon in the Spring of 2019. I can’t believe I’ve been done with school for over a year now! After graduation, I was in a season of real frustration. I was applying to jobs I thought I was qualified for and I couldn’t even get an interview. I kept asking God, “why do all of these doors keep closing? What do you want me to do?” Little did I know that the answer would have me moving halfway across the world to Zambia!

I got connected with GoCorps through one of their alumni. It was a complete God appointment and wouldn’t have happened if He hadn’t of orchestrated it. Looking at all of the placements on their website, I saw this specific one doing entrepreneurial development in Zambia. It seemed like the perfect fit because I have been to Uganda three times and went to school for business. This placement literally combined my two passions!

But, I am a very stubborn person, and God had to make things pretty clear if this was the path that I was supposed to take. Jesus tends to speak to me by giving me numerous small signs that I am on the right path. For this commitment and calling, Jesus sent me a few signs lighting the way. Through my season of waiting, I was supposed to meet with a connection my pastor had. I emailed this man, and he was willing to meet with me when he got back from, you guessed it, Zambia. One Sunday, the opening scripture at my church was Matthew 14:22-32, which is my favorite passage and one that I even have tattooed on my foot. There were other little signs here and there, but the real nail on the head was my team. When talking to the leaders in Zambia, I found out that another 20-something woman was going to be there. Come to find out, she went to the same small, Christian university I attended and even knows some of the same people I know. I knew then, that this is where God wanted me to be.

I am so excited to see where God takes me on this journey! I am looking forward to learning and living in a new country. I am excited to see how my relationship with Jesus grows and see how he uses me to further His Kingdom in Zambia.
