“Where have you seen God be the most significantly present in the past month?”
Well jeesh, that seems like a loaded question, and I really couldn’t say that God being present in one moment could be more significant than Him being present in another moment… but the most obvious thing that comes to mind was last Monday morning.
A couple here who I really respect, invited me over for cafecito. This woman always knows things! She just knows if I’m going through something difficult ir if I really just need to talk- but she’s a busy mom too, so I really don’t know how she does it.
This time when she invited me over, she opened her journal and said, “okay, I had a feeling you have a lot of pressing prayer requests, go ahead- spill ‘em”
We were both surprised because I really couldn’t thing of any pressing prayer requests, but as we talked, we realized that I was carrying a lot of anxiety about several important dates and decisions that were coming up soon! Big things!
Of course, as usual, she and her husband were able to listen compassionately, share relatable stories, and help me feel peace for it all.
But the thing that really gets me- that still amazes me- is how God’s fingerprints were all over this encounter. Just a normal coffee date, right? No! It seems strange to say that God would give me people as a gift, but God really DOES give good and thoughtful gifts!
I love to know that my father really took time to coordinate and plan out these people’s lives crossing with mine. He gave them qualities and histories that he knew would be encouraging for me, and I hope that he gave me qualities and a history that is encouraging for them. He knew that during these 2 years in this country I would need a couple exactly like them- to pour into me, to challenge me, and to be there for me.
God is in the everyday. I’m thankful for this gift of these people.
