Will You Go?

Posted on Monday, September 16, 2019

Before I spoke a word, God was singing over me. He knew me before I knew Him. He knew my deepest intricacies and He placed me in a family that was generationally rooted in the Middle East. This was not a coincidence. Born and raised in the beautiful state of Virginia, I came to know the name of my wonderful Creator - the God of Heaven and Earth who made a way for me and the rest of humanity to conquer sin and death and live in relationship with Him.

What a gift

God so loved the world that He gave His only Son so that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16).

I grew up in a country where I had access to learn more about this gift. It’s a gift for the whole world, but not everyone in the world knows about it. In the United States I had the freedom to hear about the life of Jesus, to know His love, His sacrifice, His mission, and His purposes for the world. I was given the freedom to study the Bible and accept Christ’s gifts of grace, freedom, forgiveness, everlasting life, and abundant hope.

I grew up in a country where I could freely discover and make the decision for myself that Jesus is Lord. This opportunity to learn and choose what I believe about Jesus was the greatest gift I could ever receive. I’ve seen and experienced the transformative power of this gift and my heart breaks when I realize this freedom to learn and choose and be transformed by God’s grace was a gift that my ancestors did not get to have.

It is incredibly good news that over 2 BILLION people living on this Earth have never even heard about.

This breaks my heart.

God has chosen to use me as a part of His plan to make His name known and reconcile a lost, broken, and hurting world back to Himself. I’m so blessed and excited that I get to start this work in the Middle East. The country I am moving to is in great need. 99.9% of the people there do not know the love of Christ. There is immense poverty and little freedom in the Middle East. I will be working with people who have been enslaved, people whose homes have been bombed, people whose lives have been threatened, and who have been deeply oppressed for a number of unjust reasons.

I will work with people who don’t yet know that there is a God who sees them, knows them, and loves them. I’ll get to tell them about Jesus and how He saved us and is restoring us and reconciling the world back to Himself. I’m honored to be a person who can go to this beautiful people group that God made. I get to go love and serve people seeking refuge and opportunity.

May they call upon the Lord Jesus who loves and draws near to all who call on Him.

“But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent?”  Romans 10:14-15

I’ve been sent.

February 2020 - I’ll go.

This is a call to the nations. This is a call to make disciples. This is a call for every believer as it says so in God's word. We make up one body and the body has many different parts, but we do share this one mission.

How is God sending you? Will you go?
