It's surreal to realize that I will be moving away from the state I've lived in for 25 years of my life in less than 6 months to a completely new city and surrounding for 2 years. I sit here and wonder, "how did this happen?" The truth is, it didn't happen on my own. GOD is the only reason I've gotten this far. He has captured my heart and led me through each difficulty and barrier.
As I followed the steps that brought me to GoCorps I came upon the placement in Eastern U.S working with refugees and as I read through the description it just felt right. I had always seen missions as going across the ocean and I was ready to go overseas. So when this placement came up and I thought, but God I am ready to go overseas. I can’t take this placement. As I continued to read about it, God opened my heart to the refugee population in Eastern U.S. He showed me that He wanted to use me to welcome the foreigner in my own country and help them see His love through me. So I said yes and started the application process to GoCorps and then to the specific placement. And I chose to trust God in His leading even though I was still unsure and struggled to see my placement as valid as those overseas.
God reminded me through this process that He is good and faithful and fully sovereign over every aspect of my life. And I am excited to continue on this journey with Him as I prepare for the move to Pittsburgh and gather a team of partners around me. God is on the move here in the Midwest and in Eastern U.S and I am ready to step into what He has already begun. A quote that I read this morning really resonated with me and the season I'm in.
"Winning doesn't mean crossing the finish line in front of everyone else; it's being constantly ready to run in the direction of Jesus. If we're doing it correctly, this will always take us to the poor, the weak, and the helpless." ~Maria Goff - Love Lives Here~
So here I am; ready to go with God by my side as the journey continues...
