Power in Prayer

Posted on Saturday, March 7, 2020

Friends and fam... Hello hello!

I hope 2020 is already off to an incredible start for you all. The start to a new year is always a special time but when it's a start to a new DECADE?! We are soooo thankful two of our best friends, Josh and Sarah were able to join us in Lima shortly after Christmas for a week. Having familiar faces here was so surreal and we still get dumb-smiles on our faces when we talk about what a special week it was. a couple quick updates before we get to the meat of this letter...

We are deep in a season of preparation and planning...materials to share with the Yanesha, our testimonies, Matt's preparing mini-sermons and constantly working on Spanish. We also began an English class that will begin this week! We're so excited that people are actually excited about doing this and anticipate friendships and opportunities to share the Gospel through this.

The nature of living here, literally and figuratively, keeps us from being with the Yanesha for a couple of months. We're in the thick of rainy season and it is just too dangerous to travel in and out of the deeper jungle due to landslides, etc. Does that mean ministry with the Yanesha goes on pause? Absolutely not. Rather, it gives us the incredible opportunity to PRAY. God does not need any of us and alone, we have zero power to introduce the Yanesha to Jesus. Yet God is with them even now and is inviting us to join in on the ministry He continues to do through prayer.

Last time we were working in the Yanesha schools in the community of Shiringa, I was thinking about how much the power of prayer has affected both Matt and I's lives. We are so blessed to have parents, grandparents, friends, siblings, church communities and pastors that have covered us in prayers, literally since before we were even born, as I'm sure many of you have had as well. These kids do not have that. Who's praying for their salvation? Their future spouses? Their health? Big decisions that they have coming up in the next couple of years? The reality is if it's not us, who will? There are a lot of kids. But there are also a lot of you guys, who receive our newsletters.

Would you join us in covering the Yanesha Youth in your prayers?
